For reliability and clear calls, nothing beats plain old telephone service

POTS, the loving acronym for “plain old telephone service,” is the single oldest continuously operating network in existence. It predates even the earliest vestiges of the internet by three-quarters of a century. It’s so ubiquitous and so reliable that the notion of eliminating it is quite literally banned by law — it’s written into Section 214 of Title 47, the portion of the US Code established largely by the Communications Act of 1934: “No carrier shall discontinue, reduce, or impair service to a community, or part of a community, unless and until there shall first have been obtained from the Commission a certificate that neither the present nor future public convenience and necessity will be adversely affected thereby… .”

Cellular and smartphones have become a necessity for most of us. But if you have an emergency and you cannot communicate, would others be able to locate and know how to use your smartphone quickly, especially a young child? With a landline, young children and guests in your home know where to find the phone in case of an emergency, and help is a simple 911 phone call away. Your smartphone is worth keeping, and your CC Communications landline is a smart connection to keep.

Thinking about cutting the cord and using cellular?

There are a lot of good reasons to have home phone service from CC Communications:

    1. 911 emergency location
    2. no dropped calls
    3. no dead cell phone batteries
    4. multiple extensions throughout the house
    5. unlimited local calling
    6. convenient calling features
    7. superior call quality, with no static or digital clipping
    8. home phone service is:
    • affordable
    • reliable
    • secure.

The more services from CC Communications you use, the more you save.

The more services from CC Communications you use, the more you save.

Basic charges do not include federal, state and local taxes or mandated charges.

Agreements are available for business lines which reduce the monthly charge depending upon the number of lines and the term of the contract.

Add optional calling features for the functionality you need.

    Universal Service Fund

For 80 years, the Congress of the United States has recognized consistently it is much more difficult and expensive to bring telephone service to rural communities and small towns than it is to connect urban centers such as Reno, Carson City and Las Vegas. A national policy known as “universal service” has enabled CC Communications to offer service in accordance with federal law that says all Americans should have access to “comparable telephone service at reasonable affordable rates” no matter where they live.

CC Communications charges $16.00 per month for residential telephone service. The local rate our customers pay provides about 20 percent of the revenue required for us to operate. If subscribers, minus any State or Federal cost recovery, had to bear the total cost of providing local telephone service across the rugged desert terrain of CC Communications’ 5,023 square mile service area, the local service rate would be $79.38 per month. For this reason alone, the State and Federal Cost Recovery Mechanisms are vital to CC Communications, as well as other rural telcos, in order to maintain affordable local rates and support investment in vital communications infrastructure.

The recovery mechanisms are tied to your local telephone line. To provide High-Speed Internet service to you without a telephone line by federal tariff would add $70.96 to $92.39 to the monthly rate for Internet service (based on bandwidth) – rates much higher than the cost of a local telephone line.
